Norma E. Hanson, 87

Norma E. Hanson, 87, of Whitefish, “went home to be with the Lord” on April 8, 2016.

Norma was born March 31, 1929, in Bowbells, North Dakota, the son of Herman and Helen Redmer. She was joined by six brothers and two sisters and was raised on the family farm near Bowbells.

On Jan. 17, 1948, Norma and the love of her life, Ken Hanson, eloped to Wahpeton, North Dakota. The couple worked at farming and started a family. In 1955 the family moved to the Flathead where they remained. They then pursued a lifelong love of farming and raising Fjord horses.

Norma was a longtime member of the Stillwater Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her and was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken; her parents; sister, Inez Carlson; and brothers, Harold, John, Gordon, Lawrence and Bert Redmer.

She is survived by her sister, Betty, and Bob Olson, of Kalispell; and brother, Phil Redmer, of Vancouver, Washing-ton.

Her immediate family includes daughters, Candice and husband Jim Mathison, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Julie Hanson of Whitefish; son Don of Columbia Falls, and son Bill and wife Bonnie Hanson of Willow, Alaska; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Stillwater Lutheran Church.
