Search still underway for missing camper

A search was still underway Wednesday afternoon near Grangeville, Idaho, for a Kalispell man who vanished during a weekend camping trip.

A dispatcher at the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that people were still searching for Burke Despain, 64, of Kalispell.

Despain’s son Jason called authorities Saturday morning after he awoke and could not find his father.

Dogs traced Despain to the banks of the South Fork of the Clearwater River. Authorities believe Despain might have fallen into the river and been swept away.

Despain is an outside salesman for Dakota Supply Group in Kalispell.
