SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Polson rallies by Hamilton, Eureka hammers Whitefish

HAMILTON — Polson scored five runs in the top of the seventh to rally by Hamilton 11-7 in a Class A nonconference softball contest on Thursday afternoon.

It was the sixth straight win for the Pirates after opening the season with two losses.

Polson led 4-2 after the first inning, but Hamilton jumped in front 7-4 after three innings.

Polson scored twice in the top of the fourth, to trail 7-6.

Camas Renault pitched the final two innings for Polson in picking up the win in the circle.

Quinn Motichka was 3 for 3 and drove in two runs for Polson while Ashley Benson was 3 for 4 and had two RBIs.

Motichka and Hannah Potter both doubled for the Pirates.

Mallory McGill homered and Sophia Doyle tripled for Hamilton.

Polson plays at Corvallis on Saturday.

LIBBY — Libby jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first three innings before St. Ignatius stormed back to pull it out in Western B action.

Ran Dee Charlo homered for St. Ignatius in the fourth inning to get the ball rolling for the Bulldogs.

Jaycee Anderson went 4 for 4 for the victors, doubling three times and belting a triple. She had four RBIs.

Haylee Cannon had a perfect day at the plate for Libby (4-2) with three hits in three plate appearances.

Khalyn Hageness, Sammee Bradeen, Alyssa Marshall and Lindsey Walker had two hits each.

“We had some good shots,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said.

“Those four errors cost us.”

EUREKA — Aiyana Twigg had three hits and Makennah Apeland, Courtney Lemer, Ambryn Smith and Serena Marquardt all had two each as Class B Eureka whipped Class A Whitefish in a nonconference matchup.

Eureka broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Lemer and Smith had two RBIs each.

Jordan Sletten had two hits for Whitefish.
