Herbert S. Yarus, 90
On April 10, 2016, Herbert S. Yarus, 90, passed away peacefully in Kalispell. Herbert was being visited and comforted by family members and friends at the time of his passing. He was 90 years old. He had been lovingly cared for by his wife.
Herbert was born September 21, 1925, in Richmond, Virginia. He spent his early years in Arlington, Virginia and Cumberland, Virginia. He had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm in Cumberland with his brother and six cousins. He often related stories of the farm and the mischief he would get into.
He then attended high school in Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1946. Herbert married Alice Sisson on May 21, 1955. They had three sons and raised their family in Alexandria, Virginia. Herbert worked for the District of Columbia for more than 25 years before retiring. Herbert worked diligently to provide for his family. He was loyal and valued hard work. He was proud to instill these same qualities in his sons. He was active in the Baptist church.
After living in Alexandria for more than 50 years, he and Alice moved to Montana in 2006 to be closer to family. Herbert was fiercely independent and enjoyed having a project to plan out and work on.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Alice; his sons and their wives, Jeff and Teresa Yarus, Bill and Diane Yarus, Brian and Amy Yarus; seven grandchildren; an older brother, Howard Yarus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
