The Kalispell Lakers AA had just three hits in the second game of their American Legion doubleheader with the Belgrade Bandits.

Fortunately for the Lakers, all three were triples, and the trio of three-baggers were enough to help Kalispell sweep Belgrade, winning 9-2 and 5-2 on Saturday at Griffin Field.

Jayson Combs, Micah Benson and Patrick O’Connell notched the three-base hits in the second game. The Lakers scored four times in the first three innings, taking advantage of three errors, and never trailed. Leif Ericksen earned the win, going five innings and allowing just one earned run.

The Lakers faced an early 2-0 deficit in the first game but recovered to score four times in the third and five more times in the fourth to pull away. Kalispell collected 10 hits, two apiece for Andrew Schleusner and Jonas Nyman. Schleusner drove in three of the Lakers’ nine runs.

Dawson Smith was excellent on the mound in opener, going six innings and allowing only two unearned runs. Smith struck out four.
