MISSOULA — Flathead finally broke through for win No. 1 Thursday afternoon against Glacier.

It liked the feeling so much it did it again on Saturday.

The Bravettes (2-8, 1-5 Western AA) busted open a close game with eight sixth-inning runs and earned their first Western AA conference win, romping over Missoula Hellgate 17-9.

Sophomore Kaileight Denna, the hero of Thursday’s crosstown win, had a monster game against the Knights, going 2 for 3 with a home run — her second in as many games — and five RBIs.

Bailey Nunn and Kaitlin Torgerson added three hits each for the Bravettes, who banged out 16 as a team. Nunn added three RBIs, with Kaitlin Torgerson and Abbie O’Brien each driving in two more.

Kylee Beccari went 2 for 5 with a double and earned the victory in the circle, working into the fifth inning.
