Missing furniture: Theft or storm casualty?

A Flatwater Drive resident called the Whitefish Police Department after discovering various pieces of furniture had gone missing from the front porch overnight. The caller suspected that a thief, not the wind, was responsible.

A Kallner Way resident called police to report their 10-year-old daughter had run away. A motorist also called about a young girl riding her bike on U.S. 93 South. The bike-riding girl was identified as the reported runaway, and officers reunited her with her parents.

A motorist called police to report a suspicious vehicle pulling in and out of driveways near Red Eagle Drive. Officers were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle, but noted it was most likely a newspaper delivery driver.

A caller told police there was a fight on Central Avenue after the businesses were closed for the evening. Officers were unable to locate the group, but a witness told officers that the men were just messing around and that no fight had occurred.


A woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department after dropping off a hitch-hiking man in town. She said the man mentioned he was diabetic, and by the time she dropped him off he wasn’t making sense. She requested that officers check on his well-being.

A caller told police that a truck driving through town was being reckless, allegedly running several red lights. Officers were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle.

A caller on Seventh Avenue West told police a car had run into a fence, tearing it down. The caller said the car took off, but there was front end damage and a headlight out.


The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on Browns Meadow Road, and reports of smoke on Smith Lake Road.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency in Kalispell, and reports of a grass fire on U.S. 93 South.
