LETTER: How are we to know which Muslims will be good neighbors?

| April 26, 2016 10:26 AM

Bill Cox’s letter (April 15 Inter Lake) is still making me crazy.

“Islamophobia!” Really? Our world has never known the evil incarnate that is ISIS. Never.

I realize that most Muslims are not terrorists, but how are we to know? Drownings, burning alive, beheadings. Just the beginning. I’m guessing that some of these horrors will come to our TV screens as this endless election campaign continues. Good. Americans should know our enemy.

Again, all Muslims are not terrorists. Why don’t good Muslims speak out? How about a “Million Muslim March” in D.C. supporting our American values. The immigration department is clueless and chaotic. Questions asked of potential immigrants are completely ridiculous: “Have you ever supported terrorist activities? Do you know anyone who has supported terrorist activities?”

In 2015 in San Bernardino, neighbors observed an arsenal developing in a garage and a massacre killed 14 innocent people. In 2005, at Fort Hood, Texas, a Muslim army officer opens fire and kills 13 and injures 33. Again, how are we to know?

Do you know, Mr. Cox, what is happening in many large European cities? Just imagine our Kalispell City Airport as a “satellite city” — Eastern refugees crowded together with no intent whatsoever of assimilating.

These communities remain connected to their homeland by satellite TV. Local law enforcement agencies are not even allowed to enter. Their language, traditions and culture remain intact while they share little or nothing with their host cities. Sharia law is observed in some communities.

In our country, some school districts are discouraging/forbidding observation of Christmas. No more praying and no Bibles, and some have eliminated the Pledge of Allegiance. Yet Muslim students may pray on prayer rugs, sometimes in prayer rooms. Their holidays and even dietary regulations are observed.

A column that has circulated on the Internet expresses my own opinion as well: “This is our country ... and we will offer you every opportunity to enjoy it ... but once you’re done complaining about our flag, our pledge, our Christian beliefs, our way of life... take advantage of another great freedom, your right to leave...”

Once more, Mr Cox, how are we to know?
