Crews on the Kalispell U.S. 93 bypass project will pave the pedestrian tunnel today near Glacier High School.

Project Superintendent Melvin Nahrgang said he expects to have the job completed by the end of the day.

“We’ll begin at 7 in the morning prepping gravel. As soon as we get the OK, we’ll begin paving as soon as possible,” Nahrgang said Tuesday. “Aside from any unforeseen problems, we should be done tomorrow.”

Nahrgang said students walking southeast from Glacier High School to U.S. 93 should take the existing sidewalk along Old Reserve Drive. Traffic won’t be affected by crews paving the pedestrian tunnel.

Crews also will pour concrete near the bridge over Old Reserve Drive. The concrete will form slope-protection barriers for the embankments facing both sides of Old Reserve Drive.

Construction also begins this week on noise walls near Three Mile Drive. No delays are expected due to the construction.
