LETTER: Pam Holmquist is 'a keeper'
Commissioner Pam Holmquist is A KEEPER! Not all incumbent election-seekers are. Please join me in supporting her for Flathead County commissioner in the upcoming primary election.
While I have disagreed on occasion with Commissioner Holmquist’s decisions, as a former elected office-holder myself, a cliche reverberates, “You cannot please all of the people all of the time.”
Amidst the myriad of issues and decision-making facing the Flathead County commissioners, I consistently find Commissioner Holmquist a willing and good listener, a gracious recipient of input and conflict, and a cautious, researched decision-maker. She is cognizant of the “two-sides-to-every-coin” philosophy and does her homework before taking a stand. She is able to defend her decisions and remains steadfast.
As the former county superintendent of schools, I knew that the functions of my office were little understood. Commissioner Holmquist was one of the few commissioners during my tenure who often stopped by the office to inquire about the education system in the Flathead. Her interest in the future of our children was/is genuine.
An elected official tends to grow with the office, and, at this time in the Flathead, Pam Holmquist’s experience as a commissioner, her knowledge of governance, and her outstanding work ethic are needed. She is “a keeper”! —Marcia Sheffels, Whitefish
