National group honors school French program
Glacier High School was recently recognized as an Exemplary French Program by the American Association of Teachers of French.
The award recognizes programs around the country that stand out based on several indicators such as enrollment, professional development, collaboration, experiences outside the classroom and test results.
Glacier’s French program was one of eight in the nation to receive this award, according to French teacher Stephanie Hill.
The Glacier French program offers early language learning at the middle school level up to advanced and college-level Advanced Placement classes at the high school level.
Enrollment in French classes has increased throughout the years from 92 students in 2011 to 166 this school year. The French Club is an active part of the program with 90 members.
The school also participates in the American Association of Teachers of French National French Contest and has inducted students into the National French Honor Society on an annual basis.
