LOCAL ROUNDUP: Deadline nears for fair parade entries

| August 5, 2016 7:00 AM

The last day to register an entry for the Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo Parade in Kalispell is Aug. 10.

The parade is Aug. 19.

To register, visit www.kalispellchamber.com/programs-events/parades. Registration is required this year for parade participation and costs $20 per entry.

Judged entries should line up on Eighth Street West by 7:30 a.m. Aug. 19 for judging to begin at 8:30 a.m.; all other entries are to be in place by 9:30 a.m. for the official start of the parade at 10 a.m.

The parade will travel up Main Street in Kalispell from Eighth Street West to West Center Street before turning west past Kalispell Center Mall.

Public safety is a top priority for this event and spectators are encouraged to view the parade from the sidewalks on either side of Main Street. To keep the roadway free and clear of children and spectators, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce is urging people to refrain from parking on Main Street before and during the parade. Spectators should plan to arrive early. Typically, the beginning portion of the parade from Eighth Street to Sixth Street is much less crowded than blocks farther north.

The day following the parade, the Kalispell Chamber and local 4-H and FFA groups will hold the annual Stock Sale at the Fairgrounds, beginning at 8 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.

For all questions regarding the parade or for information regarding the stock sale, contact the Kalispell Chamber at 758-2803 or info@kalispellchamber.com.
