LOCAL ROUNDUP: Nurturing Center taking items for upcoming yard sale

The Nurturing Center in Kalispell is accepting donations of gently used items that might be of some worth for a yard sale being held beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 and 13. Proceeds will go directly toward the Nurturing Center’s programs and services to encourage the success of local families and Child Care providers.

The Nurturing Center is located at 146 Third Ave. W. in Kalispell.

Its mission is to provide supportive, respectful services that strengthen families, increasing the number of children raised in healthy, nurturing environments.


Swan River Bridge study detailed at Aug. 16 open house

The Montana Department of Transportation and Flathead County are preparing a feasibility study examining potential improvement to the historic Swan River Bridge in Bigfork.

The purpose of the study is to consider options to rehabilitate or replace the bridge while retaining the historic character of the bridge.

An open house and informational presentation will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the Bigfork Elementary School cafeteria.

The meeting is intended to review results from previous meetings, present bridge rehabilitation and replacement options and receive public feedback on preliminary options.

Study team members will be available during the open house.
