Input wanted on Blacktail Mt. Road plan

| August 11, 2016 6:45 AM

The Flathead National Forest is seeking comments regarding the proposal to stabilize and restore the Blacktail Road from milepost 3.43 to milepost 13.13 (top of Blacktail Mountain Road). The Environmental Analysis has been completed, and public comments are due by Sept. 2. There are three alternatives being considered.

One is the no-action alternative.

Alternative 2 is to restore and pave to the top.

Alternative 3 is to pave to the cross country trails only and leave the top 5 miles gravel.

This public comment period is very important to this process. It does not matter that you didn’t comment during the February scoping period. Only those who provide timely and substantive comments will be eligible to object to the decision. All comments will be considered part of the public record.
