LETTER: Cyclists must be respectful of drivers, too
At this time of year especially I have noticed more and more runners, walkers, four-wheelers, golf carts and bicycle riders on our highways and two lane roads.
I will mention the obvious: Our two lane roads have no shoulders in many places. The bicyclist must ride in the traffic lanes. I understand this but when there are bike paths present, why do they not use them? As a motorist I respect their activities and try to be considerate of their presence, but on roads like the Echo Lake Road where there are no shoulders and many twist and turns, I worry there will be an accident.
Like everything else in the valley we share space with others. Please, if there is a bike path use it. It is there for your and everyone else’s safety.
