Trailing most of the game to a tough Polson squad, the Glacier boys retook the lead late in the fourth quarter and held on to win a nonconference basketball game 58-53 on Tuesday.

The Wolfpack took an early lead in the game but Polson roared back, leading 15-12 after the first quarter and 28-22 at halftime.

“It was just a battle the whole time,” Wolfpack coach Mark Harkins said. “We got out fast early, they came back and took a lead. The second half was great.”

Glacier found some footing after halftime, outscoring the Pirates 19-17 in the third quarter. The Wolfpack retook the lead with less than four minutes remaining in the game and held off a charge from Polson, closing the game at the free-throw line.

“I was pleased with the way our kids fought and clawed and got the win,” Harkins said.

Jaxen Hashley led Glacier with 17 points and junior guard Kody Jarvis scored 14 points.

“Kody came off the bench and gave us a huge spark when we were struggling to score,” Harkins said.

Four players hit double-digit scoring for Polson, led by Jaydon Bautista, who had 18 points, five assists and four steals. Matt Rensvold had 10 points and 13 rebounds to record a double-double, Tanner Wilson had 11 points and J’von Johnson scored 10 points.
