Avalanche crosses Highway 2 near West Glacier
Highway crews have finished clearing snow from an early-morning avalanche that struck U.S. 2 east of West Glacier on Friday, according to the Montana Department of Transportation.
The slide occurred at mile marker 161, near Deerlick Creek, at around 3 a.m., according to department dispatcher Fran Rehn.
She said crews finished clearing the road around noon, following several hours of single-lane traffic.
Flathead Avalanche Center is rating the avalanche danger as considerable above 5,000 feet in the mountains around southern Glacier National Park.
