Caller concerned about dog's well-being

An Armory Road resident called the Whitefish Police Department to report a dog locked up in a kennel. The caller suspected neglect. Officers made contact with the dog owner and found nothing amiss and no signs of neglect or abuse.

A caller at the Whitefish Airport reported seeing several people drink alcohol and then get into their vehicles and drive away. All allegedly intoxicated parties were gone by the time officers arrived, and they were unable to locate the vehicles described by witnesses.

A woman on Pine Avenue called police when a friend showed up at her house intoxicated, barefoot and “not making sense.” The man left the residence and headed downtown according to the caller, but police were unable to locate him.

Officers responded to a call about a side door being propped open at an East Fourth Street building. Everything was fine inside and officers secured the door.

Police received several calls about hit-and-run incidents involving parked vehicles. One vehicle was reportedly damaged in the parking lot of a Spokane Avenue business, and another was hit while parked behind a bar on Central Avenue.

An employee of a Central Avenue business called to report a fight involving at least six people that had broken out. All subjects involved had been kicked out of the establishment and all parties separated by the time officers arrived. Officers spoke with a few people who had been involved and warned them not to return to the bar.

An employee at a Wisconsin Avenue business called when an allegedly intoxicated woman stumbled to her car and drove away, nearly causing a wreck when pulling out into traffic. Officers were unable to locate the woman or her vehicle.

An employee at a U.S. 93 West business called to report a man causing a disturbance. Officers spoke with both security and the disorderly patron.

Officers stopped an intoxicated woman who was standing in the middle of East Second Street. Apparently she had wandered away from her friend. She was advised to stay on the sidewalk.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call from a woman who claimed her vehicle was stolen from outside a Nucleus Avenue business with her dog inside. The keys were reportedly in the vehicle. Officers took a report but were unable to immediately locate the vehicle.

A resident on 12th Avenue West called police to report a suspicious man driving through the apartment complex. The caller was afraid it might be a previously evicted resident stalking another resident and wanted some extra patrols.

A 13th Street West resident called to ask for assistance with some loud neighbors. Officers told the subjects to keep the volume down.

A Beth Road resident called to report a suspicious person or people on her porch. She lived alone and was not expecting any visitors, and requested an officer check the outside of her home to make sure everything was safe. Officers did not find anyone or anything of concern.


The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle fire on U.S. 93 South.
