Piece by piece, construction crews on Thursday connected structural cubes that will become a pedestrian underpass near Glacier High School in Kalispell.

The tunnel eventually will be part of a paved walking trail that is part of the U.S. 93 bypass project. The underpass is being built from 35 structural cubes.

Each piece weighs 52,000 pounds and is lowered into place by a crane.

The pedestrian tunnel is part of the U.S. 93 bypass construction project.
