Participate in WomenHeart health campaign

| February 4, 2016 11:00 AM

As a WomenHeart Champion, I am proud to announce that WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease is partnering with Burlington Stores and talk-show host Wendy Williams for our American Heart Month social media campaign to raise awareness about women’s No. 1 health threat — heart disease.

Every year heart disease affects more than 6.5 million American women and is responsible for one in four deaths in women. Heart disease may be prevented by making lifestyle changes to minimize risk factors. Adopting a diet that is low in saturated fat, sodium and added sugars; exercising for 30 minutes a day; managing cholesterol and blood pressure; and quitting smoking are simple steps that all women can take to protect their hearts.

I encourage all women — and men — to participate in our #HealthyHeartSelfie social media challenge throughout February to take steps to improve your heart health! —Emmy Ort, Kalispell
