Just the facts!

| February 5, 2016 11:00 AM

I really enjoyed reading the letter from Robert Petersen the other day about how important it is to be educated before you vote. I could not agree more.

Unfortunately, things like the Internet, social media and news organizations that have forgotten what the “freedom of the press” was supposed to mean, have made it almost impossible for anyone to know what the truth really is.

We seem to be ignorant of the things that affect our lives for years. We spend our time researching why one of the Kardashian bimbos has such a big butt.

Mr. Petersen lists current political themes such as global warming, raising minimum wage, rich people are bad, government feeding children lead for profit and of course banning fossil fuels. Most people know the truth to these things are always somewhere in the middle, not on one side or the other.

The ranting of these issues is one thing but when Mr. Petersen says he doesn’t want to tell you how to vote,” it appears to me that he IS telling us how to vote just by his previous statements. These “themes” are the everyday talking points of the Democratic Party.

But if you want everyone to be an informed voter, please give us all the information and we then can make our decisions based on facts not opinions. As Joe Friday says, “just the facts, ma’am.” —Gil Conrad, Kalispell
