BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Whitefish girls thrash Blue Hawks, 58-32

THOMPSON FALLS — The Whitefish girls ran out to a 50-19 lead after three quarters, blowing out Class B Thompson Falls 58-32 in a nonconference basketball game on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs took charge early, jumping out to a 24-3 lead after the first quarter. Whitefish led 36-12 at half on the way to the rout.

Dani Douglas had a game-high 17 points to lead Whitefish and Allie Schulz had 12.

Shey Hannum scored 16 points to lead the Blue Hawks.

The win is a lead in to a huge matchup this weekend, when Whitefish will host Northwestern A conference leaders Columbia Falls on Saturday.

The Wildkats won the first meeting 72-33 in Columbia Falls.

Ronan 64, Florence 53

RONAN — Alicia Camel scored 20 points to lead Ronan to a rout of Florence in a District 6B conference game.

The Maidens rolled out to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, building their lead to 19 points after three quarters before Florence was able to close to within nine at the final horn.

Lee Camel scored 17 points and Micalann McCrea had 14 for Ronan in the win.

Danielle Zahn scored 17 points to lead Florence.

THOMPSON FALLS — Jacob Henry scored a game-high 20 points but it wasn’t enough for Whitefish to pull past Class B Thompson Falls in a nonconference basketball game on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs fell behind by nine points after the first quarter and 15 at half, entering the break down 36-21. Whitefish could never catch up, despite getting good production from three separate scorers.

Jansen Anderson scored 11 points and Derek Kastella 10 points for the Bulldogs in the loss.

Cory Tessier scored 16 points to lead Thompson Falls and Tanner Laws had 13 points. Trais Hoisington and Joe Frields each scored 12 points for the Blue Hawks.

The game served as a warmup for a big contest for the Bulldogs later this week. Whitefish will host Columbia Falls on Saturday in the second meeting this season between the North Valley rivals. Whitefish won the first meeting in Columbia Falls 56-44.
