LETTER: Trump is a loser
According to the schedule, I think Montana’s primary is on June 7. I would never attempt to sway voters on who they should vote for, right now there is no way I could vote for Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump made the statement about Sen. John McCain: “I like people that weren’t captured…” John McCain put his life on the line while serving in the U.S. Navy and was shot down and captured by the North Vietnamese. John McCain and many others accepted their missions to fly combat over North Vietnam knowing there was a chance they would be shot down.
If you research the B-17 missions during WWII over Germany you will realize that 10 brave souls on board were either killed or captured every time a B-17 was shot down. I assume Mr. Trump did not like those brave men who were lucky enough to bail out and were eventually captured by the Germans.
I would never criticize an American who did not enter the military, but I can never forgive Mr. Trump for this statement about John McCain. Mr. Trump avoided the draft during the Vietnam War while John McCain and over 500 prisoners of war were being tortured by the enemy. Sometimes Mr. Trump refers to his Republican challengers as losers; I think of Donald Trump as a loser and an embarrassment to our election process. —Jack Sollars, Kalispell
