Rob was born on March 30, 1971, in Gravette, Arkansas, to Terry and Linda (Mitchell) Compton. He spent many of his younger years in Great Falls and Kalispell, before moving to Missouri to finish high school.
Following graduation, Rob returned to Kalispell where he met Kelly Keller, and the couple married in 1995. They had four children, and made their home in Kalispell for the first several years. Rob and Kelly moved to Havre in 2002, where Rob worked as a salesman for Gusto Distributing.
Rob enjoyed playing and coaching basketball, hunting, golfing, Motocross, watching his beloved Broncos, and watching NASCAR, in which he followed Rusty Wallace until his retirement and then Carl Edwards. He found joy in raising his livestock, but he experienced his greatest pride and joy in helping to raise his kids. Rob especially enjoyed coaching his daughters’ basketball team at Central, even convincing their older brother to help coach one year.
Rob was preceded in death by his daughter, Taylor Compton; and his grandparents, Wylie B. Mitchell, and Dean and Zona Gayle Compton.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Compton, of Havre; his children, Michael, Kate-Lyn, and Kassidy Compton, all of Havre; his parents, Terry and Linda Compton, of Kalispell; his siblings, Alan and Darlene Compton of Kalispell, and Jennifer and Jeff Lisac of Medford, Oregon; his grandmother, Martha Mitchell, of Anderson, Missouri; and numerous beloved relatives-in-law, nieces and nephews.
