Stillwater boys, FV Homeschool girls in state hoop finals

GREAT FALLS — Stillwater Christian and Flathead Valley Homeschool have advanced to championship games at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state basketball tournaments at Paris Gibson Education Center.

The Stillwater boys, looking to repeat as state champions, will face Gallatin Valley Homechool today in the final at 4:30 p.m.

The FVHS girls, seeking their first state title since 2008, face Foothills Community Christian School in the title game at 3 p.m.

Boys

Stillwater Christian 61, Foothills Community 41

GREAT FALLS — Stillwater Christian settled down after a slow start to drop Foothills Community Christian School in the semfinal round on Friday.

BJ Bach led the rally with 18 points. Joe Hooker and Isaac Neumann had 14 each for Stillwater.

Luke Willkes tallied 15 points for Foothills.

GREAT FALLS — Lexi Ehlers had a monster game with 26 points and 10 rebounds and Karissa Williams added 22 points as Flathead Valley Homeschool rolled past Billings Christian School in semifinal play.

Ehlers scored 17 points in the first half as the Cruasaders led 30-17 at the break.

Priscilla Rajkowski had three assists, three steals, one block, seven rebounds and six points for FVHS (17-4).

Shaniah Bell knocked down 22 points for Billings Christian.

GREAT FALLS — Stillwater Christian stayed alive in MCAA state tournament play with a loser-out victory over Heritage Christian School.

Stillwater outpointed Heritage in the middle two quarters 31-13 to pull away for the win.

Dori Smith led Stillwater in scoring with 17 points. Serena Koch had 16 and Helen Hasley 12.

Smith had a team-high eight rebounds. Hashley, Chloe Erb and Lulu Neumann had seven each.

Adrianna Lambert had five assists, which was a team high.

“We shot better today — 40 percent,” SCS coach Sarah O’Rourke said.

“The girls came out ready to play this morning and played well together.

“Our goal is to win two games (today) to take home the third-place trophy.”

Stillwater (8-13) plays a loser-out game today at 8:30 a.m. versus Billings Christian School. That winner moves on to the consolation final at noon.

THOMPSON FALLS — Lana Berg scored 22 points and Miranda Campbell added 21 as Bigfork rolled by Thompson Falls in a District 7B contest.

Berg also had 10 rebounds.

Mattie McAnally had eight assists and six steals.

Bigfork, up 24-20 at the half, pulled away in the second half for the 26-point victory.

Hailey Wilson topped Thompson Falls in scoring with 12 points.

EUREKA — A trey by Stacy Cooper and free throws by Cooper and Amanda Peterson down the stretch allowed Eureka to rally past Troy for the District 7B victory.

Cooper went 4 for 4 at the line in the fourth quarter while Peterson hit 5 of 8 attempts.

Peterson finished with 18 points. Cooper had nine.

Aurora Becquart led Troy in scoring with 10.

THOMPSON FALLS — Jonathan Landon sank a pair of free throw to put Bigfork in front 64-63 and Adam Jordt followed with a steal to ice the game for the Vikings.

Landon finished with 18 points.

Also in double figures for Bigfork (17-1, 8-0) were Adam Jordt with 16 points and George Gibson had 10.

Trais Hoisington topped Thompson Falls in scoring with 16 points.
