GIRLS BASKETBALL: Schrade's buzzer-beater sends Glacier to win; Flathead routed in Helena

HELENA — Anna Schrade scored only two points, but they were the biggest of the game.

The Glacier sophomore guard scored on a layup at the horn to give the Wolfpack a 52-50 overtime victory over Helena High in a Western AA matchup Friday night.

Helena missed a shot with seven seconds to play in the extra session, Glacier post Nikki Krueger secured the rebound and found senior Hailee Bennett, who passed the length of the court to Schrade for the game-winning shot.

Bennett led Glacier (11-6 overall, 5-4 league) in scoring with 15 points. Krueger was next with 14.

Glacier held a 23-21 lead on Helena (11-6, 5-4) at the half.

Glacier plays at Helena Capital today.

HELENA — A rough start by Flathead allowed Helena Capital to roll to an easy Western AA victory.

Capital (9-8, 3-6) led 17-3 after the first quarter and 37-10 at the half.

Tiana Johnson, like she has for much of the season, was the main offensive threat for Flathead (4-13, 0-9). She tallied 17 points.

Flathead is back in action today at Helena High.
