Tank empty; Fuel bandits suspected
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a request for extra patrol after a man on Timber Lane discovered that someone had siphoned the diesel fuel from a vehicle sometime in the previous two weeks.
A man called from Island Lake to say that someone had vandalized his girlfriend’s motor home by shooting off the lock, shooting three tires and shooting holes through the inside and outside of the vehicle. The man said that photos were taken of the motor home on Feb. 5, and all was fine, meaning that the damage had occurred recently.
A traffic violation stop on Airport Road led to the arrest of one man for allegedly drinking and driving. His license was allegedly already suspended.
A woman called from Houston Circle to report to Whitefish Police that her car had been broken into a day earlier but she had not originally noticed that a saxophone was missing. The woman said there was also a chance the woodwind might be in the care of an instrument company.
A man was told to call authorities in Atlanta after his iPad went missing while traveling on an airplane. The man had tracked the iPad to the southern part of the country and believed it was stolen.
A Columbia Falls Police officer logged a report from Seventh Avenue West after a man said two girls had come to his house and tried to fight his daughter. The officer determined that a verbal altercation had occurred, but that fists had not flown during the disagreement.
A Eureka man told Kalispell Police that he had visited Kalispell and accidentally left his credit card behind. By the time he realized it was gone, someone had made off with it and followed through with some unauthorized purchases.
A bank teller stalled a suspected would-be thief while he or she was at a drive-through window. The alleged thief, in a car with Idaho plates, tried to cash some checks that the account owner confirmed were not legitimate. An officer escorted the subject down to the station for some follow-up questions.
A pizza delivery driver did not get much of a suspect identification to give police when his vehicle was allegedly hit by a man with a crowbar while he was out on a delivery. The officer who responded classified the incident as an act of road rage.
No one was transported to the hospital after a school bus slid off the road on Three Mile Drive. Some of the 30 students on board complained of neck pain, but all declined treatment.
A caller on Ninth Avenue West asked what he or she could do about a neighbor’s dog that kept leaving smelly, unwanted deposits on a sidewalk. The caller had put up signs about the issue, but the dog must not have been able to read the message, because the inconvenient potty breaks had continued. The party was counseled.
