Join the fun at Sportsman's Expo this weekend

The fifth annual Montana Sportsman’s Expo kicks off in Kalispell this Friday at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Trade Center.

The expo hosts a number of events, including education seminars; trail camera, fly casting and big bull contests; a youth fishing pond and BB gun shoot; face painting; a rock climbing wall and an archery shoot.

Educational seminars will be Saturday and Sunday covering fly fishing, packing lessons and trout fishing courses.

Smokey Bear will also be on hand.

Giveaways, including gift certificates, auto detailing, fishing trips, fishing and hunting gear, GPS units, archery targets and more, take place each hour.

Hunters can bring enter the “Big Bull” contest for a chance to win a gift card. The contest is open to Montana bulls only, and elk and moose racks — both typical and non-typical — will be scored by the Boone & Crockett System. Winners will be announced Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Army Navy booth will hold a raffle for a pair of Swarovski 10x42 El Range binoculars, a Vortex Viper HSLR 4-16x50 mm, a Luminox Watch and Kenetrek Boots.

The first 100 people through the door each day receive a free item from one of the event’s sponsors.

The expo will be open Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults and is free for children 12 and under. Admission is $5 for those who bring a nonperishable food item for the Northwest Montana Veterans’ Food Pantry.
