Woman dies after Kila crash

Authorities are investigating whether or not speed might have been a factor in a vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Kila woman Wednesday afternoon.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper John Underwood said the 56-year-old victim was driving south on Brown’s Meadow Road when she failed to negotiate a turn, ran off the roadway and her Subaru collided with a tree.
“She was not wearing a seat belt,” Underwood said.
The woman was taken by the ALERT helicopter to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
“It looks like speed may have been a factor, but that has yet to be determined,” Underwood said.
The trooper is also investigating to see if there could have been another cause of impairment or distraction.
The woman’s name has not yet been released.
