Man sentenced to two years for repeat DUIs

A Flathead County convict had his suspended sentence for his fifth drinking and driving offense revoked on Thursday after he was found guilty of a sixth DUI in Great Falls.

After his 2008 suspended sentence was revoked, Scott Michael Twet, 49, was sentenced to two years with the Montana Department of Corrections by District Court Judge Amy Eddy.

The sentence will run concurrent with Cascade County sentences from last year.

In December 2015 Twet was sentenced in Cascade County to five years with the Montana Department of Corrections for driving with a .252 blood alcohol concentration. Twet also received a two-year suspended sentence for stealing his girlfriend’s car. Another eight charges were dropped.

Flathead County prosecutor Stacy Boman said Twet previously had his suspended sentences revoked four times for DUI convictions in 2004 and 2008. Twet was convicted of felony theft in Lincoln County for a 2002 incident.

“I think Mr. Twet has simply proven that he is unable to abide by the provisions of a suspended sentence,” Boman said.

Defense attorney Vicki Frazier said Twet realizes he has a drinking problem.

“He’s going to have to address his addiction,” Frazier said.
