Charles 'Charlie' Ronald Thorne, 58

| February 28, 2016 7:00 AM

Charles “Charlie” Ronald Thorne passed away suddenly in his home in the early morning hours on Feb. 24, 2016.

He was born March 3, 1957 to Joyce and Ronald Thorne in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He moved to Kalispell in 1974 where he met and married the love of his life Nora Graham on Dec. 26, 1975.

Charlie enjoyed boating, sledding, and barbecues with his family and friends at the lake. Charlie was the family handyman. There was never a job he couldn’t do. He was always there to hang a shade, install a ceiling fan, or build a deck. Charlie’s best and final project was the beautiful dock he built at Lake Blaine for his family to enjoy for many years to come. Charlie’s lifelong passion was building and racing stock cars. He raced at Raceway Park in his younger years and enjoyed mentoring others for many years after. He never missed a NASCAR race. His greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren and loved to share his pride of them. He will forever be remembered, loved and missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Nora Thorne and their four children, Sadie and Darin Anderson, Shannon and Joel Rosenberg, Sarah and Casey Jump, Brian and Angie Thorne; their 10 grandchildren, Dyllan, Bree, Oliver, Reese, Hadlee, Luella, Jack, Carson, Harper, and Oakley; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Steve and Barb Graham, Marcie and Louie Krutsch, Maureena Watkins, Margie and Richard Strack; mother Joyce Broom; and sisters Sharon Hughes and LaRonda Woodall of North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Thorne and grandmother Nettie McLamb.

There will be a visitation for Charlie from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday Feb. 29, with services to be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kalispell. Burial will take place following the chapel services at Glacier Memorial Gardens.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the Thorne family.
