Glacier team takes fifth in competition
A Glacier High School team recently placed fifth at the state Academic WorldQuest competition.
The team included Glacier seniors Teigan Avery, Ryker McIntyre and Kadin Shields and junior Alec Willis.
Nine students represented Glacier and were tested on their knowledge of international affairs, geography, history, culture and more in 10 categories, including NATO, global food security, the Arctic, international trade and finance.
In a Global Group team challenge, teams try to solve a simulated international crisis between Russia and the United States. McIntyre placed second for his work on a policy position paper.
Fifty-two teams including some from Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Libby competed at the Feb. 23 event organized by the Montana World Affairs Council.
In addition to the competition, the event included presentations and panel discussions.
