LETTER: Dangers facing America today

The real dangers facing America today manifest themselves with various symptoms, but a Band-Aid on our cancer will only disguise it and allow it to continue to destroy us from within.

Climate change, poor against rich, black against white, liberals against conservatives, communism/socialism against liberty/self determination, atheists against believers, gay against straight, self-entitlement against paying your own way, etc, etc., are all symptoms of our internal sickness. They are not what our G.I.’s fought to protect during WWII nor the American dream I knew as a child.

Most of these issues come right out of the communist playbook for taking over and destroying America. Don’t believe me? Then read J. Edgar Hoover’s book “Masters of Deceit” (1957) and compare it to our United States today. Our social progressives are helping us right along and some are even openly running for president.

There are outside dangers which also pose real threats to America. They consist of ISIS takeover via invited immigrants, communist takeover through our public education/university system, and the hamstringing of our law enforcement and military in the name of profiling and political correctness. James Nelson Black addressed the rise and fall of great nations/empires throughout history in his book “When Nations Die.” Of the 10 things which led to the self-destruction of these nations/empires, the U.S. had already committed eight of them some 20 years ago when I first read his book. I believe we have now completed the list.

The answer to this problem is found in II Chronicles 7:14 which keys on repentance and turning from our wicked ways. Until this nation is forced to its knees by our atheistic society or some other entity, I don’t have much faith in this occurring. —Warren Williamson, Lakeside
