No walking (or driving) on the lawn

Columbia Falls Police officers counseled a group of kids on Third Street East about driving on the lawn.

A woman called to report her daughter had been assaulted and left by the side of the highway by her boyfriend. Officers spoke with the alleged victim, who told them it was an ongoing issue. The woman was going to file a report later. Officers were unable to immediately locate the boyfriend.

A Second Avenue West resident called to complain about a truck parked in the middle of the street, obstructing traffic. Responding officers found a truck matching the caller’s description that was parked facing the wrong direction, but was not in the middle of the road or causing any kind of hazard.

A resident on Cedar Pointe Drive called to report a female who appeared to be living out of her car. The caller said he heard the woman was dangerous, and so was afraid to allow his children out to play. Responding officers were unable to locate the woman.

A patron at a Nucleus Avenue establishment called officers when another customer was arguing with an employee. The upset customer then called the police, stating he had been robbed by one of the gambling machines at the business and then had been thrown out. Officers advised the man to speak to a manager in the morning.

A Nucleus Avenue resident called to report a stolen vehicle. The caller, who was also the vehicle’s owner, said the vehicle had been unlocked and the keys left inside.

A Mitchell Way resident called to report that people had been living in a vacant house in her neighborhood. The caller stated she could see people moving around inside the property in question with flashlights.


A local resident went to the Whitefish Police Department to report that a former roommate had allegedly stolen their ID.

An officer responded to reports of a loose animal on Columbia Avenue. The dog at large was returned to its home and the owner cited.

A caller on Baker Avenue stated that a man was outside yelling and possibly drunk.

A woman living on U.S. 93 South called to report she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. She said the couple had been fighting over his drinking when he hit her in the forehead and shoved her. She did not want medical assistance. The woman left with her mother for the night.

A Tumblehome Avenue resident called to report their dog had gone missing. The dog was reportedly a gray, female Malamute mix with a blue collar, that had somehow escaped from the fenced yard.

An employee of a U.S. 93 South business called to report a shoplifter. Responding officers located and recovered the stolen items behind the store, but were unable to find the suspect.

Officers arrested a man for driving under the influence on Spokane Avenue after several callers reported erratic driving, damage to other vehicles and driving on a sidewalk.


The Hungry Horse Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle fire at River Junction.


The Olney Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on Olney Loop.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a Dumpster fire on Main Street and a motor vehicle fire on Cemetery Road.
