Bond revoked for probation absconder

A woman taken into custody after absconding from probation for a year was able to provide a urine sample that was free of drugs, but Flathead District Court Judge Robert Allison revoked her bond and issued an arrest warrant after she failed to show up to court on Wednesday.

Jessica Jeanne Cannaday, 21, was up for possible revocation of a three-year deferred sentence in May 2014 for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutors claim Cannaday never reported to parole and probation. Cannaday refused to immediately provide a urine sample after she was taken into custody and jailed earlier in December. She provided a sample a day later and it was found to be clean of drugs. She stayed a few more days in jail on a probation hold and was released from custody.

“She has reported to probation sporadically, but has not reported as ordered,” prosecutor Allison Howard said.

Howard asked for Allison to issue a warrant for Cannaday’s arrest.

Allison granted the request and revoked a previous $30,000 bond Cannaday had posted.

“Whenever there is a bond revoked, the defendant tends to miraculously appear in relatively short order,” Allison said.
