LETTER: Monday profile about AuClaire was 'spot on'

| January 7, 2016 10:45 AM

The Daily Inter Lake paper is not usually among my favorite reads on Monday morning. This is not because of the people who produce the product. In my humble opinion they are among the best in the business. It is because the content usually making the news is not the stuff I like to start my week with.

And while I applaud the staff for keeping us up to date on all the politics, crises and criminals making the news, I would like to applaud Features Editor Lynnette Hintze for running a great piece about a truly remarkable lady that started my week off with a smile and encouragement.

Her article on Marie Hickey AuClaire shed a little light on one of the Flathead Valley’s true treasures. The first line and comment from Marie sums up this lady’s character: “Look at the bigger picture, It’s not about me”!

Everything in this article was spot on! She is the hardest working person I have met and she carries the torch for a family that has served the Flathead in many different capacities over the years. This was an article about people who get involved to make a difference. It brings to mind the last line of the poem “One Little Candle”:

“And, if everyone lit just one little candle, what a bright world this would be.” This is going to be a good week! —Michael Thoennes, Kalispell
