LETTER: Obama's gun talk misleading

I suppose someone is going to put Obama in for an Oscar for his tearful plea on gun control. What he should get is an award for selling more guns than anyone in the history of firearms.

Every time he whines for gun control, sales go through the roof. Some manufacturers were even on the brink of bankruptcy before Obama got them off the hook by whining about more gun controls.

He used a figure that 30,000 people were killed by guns each year, but he should have mentioned that most of the killings are related to drugs and gang turf battles. He could have mentioned that nearly 80 percent of crime is committed by minorities and that our federal prisons are 80 percent minorities. Why doesn’t he whine for gun control on them instead of closing the gun show loopholes where he admits it isn’t going to do any good. (Except it will feel good, he said.)

I wonder why Bob McClellan hasn’t said a word about all of Obama’s lies because he ranted and raved for four years because he said President Bush lied once. (Although Bush never lied, he just took information from the CIA.) Did Old Bob suggest we use compassion, understanding and listening to Bush when he was in office? NOT ONCE! —Richard J. Reed, Kila
