LETTER: Compromise is not a plus when morality, freedom at stake

| January 20, 2016 9:04 AM

Bob McClellan’s Jan. 14 list of mental gyrations he wants us to go through to escape the dangers he sees in our not kissing up to the president (as he so enjoys doing) is typical liberal superiority posturing.

And in his list of big words he just learned are the usual poison pills liberals try to slip into the latest elixir their pushing. They’re called “compromise” and “partisan politics.” Compromise to a Democrat is a Republican surrendering their common sense and reasoned position lest they be ridiculed as retrogressive, heartless, dangerous, etc. Partisan politics to a Democrat is when they don’t get their way and the very thought of it turns them into little whiny weenies.

Our Founding Fathers designed our system of government to cause opposition to clarify the issue for the people and slow down the juggernaut of government authority. Partisanship defines the issue and separates the sheep from the goats. Sheep Republicans, goats Democrats.

Compromise works on non-critical issues but when the issue is the life or death of freedom, cultural integrity or morality, compromise is the work of the devil and the tool of men lacking in good character. Compromise is a slow growing cancer where hopes are high a cure will be found before they start digging the hole for unintended consequences.

Compromise is the sleight-of-hand favorite of every Democrat. Always the advocate for compromise is the dirty old man offering candy to the innocent child. Compromise has destroyed us. We have compromised on abortion, sodomy, gambling, and the Second Amendment when we should have defied our effete Christian and conservative leadership and let the blood run. But we didn’t compromise on religion; on religion we completely folded to the music of dancing devils and Democrats. —Tim Adams, Kalispell
