  •  The public is invited to attend the Flathead County 4-H Foods Fair at the Kalispell Center Mall from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Flathead County 4-H members will compete by setting up booths depicting the theme “4-H Tailgate Party” and entering up to two food items. Judges will select the best dish from each category.
  •  Parent/teacher conferences are Monday and Tuesday at Cayuse Prairie School.
  •  Tuesday marks the end of the grading period for grades six through 12 in Columbia Falls School District.
  •  A geography bee will be held at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at Fair-Mont-Egan School in the gym.
  •  It’s “Mediterranean Night” at The Raven in Bigfork Wednesday. The Raven will serve a Mediterranean-influenced dinner at $15, with $10 benefiting Bigfork High School history students planning a 10-day tour of Greece and Italy.
  •  Glacier High School will host a blood drive Wednesday. Sign up in the main office. Students are asked to bring their IDs to the drive. Students 16 and 17 will need signed consent forms available in the office.
  •  There is no school for Fair-Mont-Egan Friday for teacher training.
  •  Whitefish High School seniors and parents are invited to attend a Free Application for Federal Student Aid workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria. Students and parents each need a Federal Student Aid ID. Parents need to bring tax and financial information. FAFSA is used to secure federal and institutional aid to help pay for postsecondary education.
  •  Bigfork Middle School student council will be collecting items for soldier valentine care packages through Friday.
  •  The Flathead County 4-H Foods Fair will be Jan. 30 with judging starting at 9:30 a.m. at Kalispell Center Mall. Check out the “best display” and culinary talent of 4-H members.
  •  Feb. 1 is the deadline to return applications to be a Flathead County 4-H Camp counselor. All applicants will go through an interview process. Counselors must be at least 13 by Oct. 1, 2015. The camp will be July 18-22 and counselors are expected to attend a majority of planning meetings. Applications are available at http://flathead.mt.gov/extension/downloads.php.
  •  Bigfork parents of children in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to attend a free parenting workshop from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 1 at Bigfork Elementary and Middle School featuring a speaker on the topic “Be a Gifted Parent!   •  Parent/teacher conferences are set for Feb. 3 in Evergreen School District. There is no school. Conferences will be from 12 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

  •  Columbia Falls High School will help students file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid Feb. 3. Free assistance will be available in the career center from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the library. This form is used to secure federal and institutional aid to help pay for postsecondary education. Incentives will be offered for forms that are completed and submitted.

  •  Home visits for Evergreen preschool, early kindergarten and kindergarten families are planned Feb. 4.
  •  St. Matthew’s students have a 1:30 p.m. dismissal Feb. 10.
  •  There is no school for Stillwater Christian students Feb. 11-12 due to an MCAA tournament.

  •  Swan River students have a 1:45 p.m. early dismissal planned Feb. 12.
  •  The winter teen 4-H camp is planned Feb. 12-14 at Loon Lake 4-H Camp in Ferndale. Camp is for ages 13-18.
  •  Kalispell Parks and Recreation along with “The Bear” radio station are hosting a Valentine’s Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 at Linderman Education Center, 124 Third Ave. E., Kalispell. There will be dancing, refreshments and prizes. Cost is $5 per person or $15 per family at the door. For more information call 758-7717.
  •  There is no school Feb. 15 for most schools in observance of Presidents Day. Cayuse Prairie and Evergreen schools will use it as a snow makeup day if necessary.
  •  February 15 is the deadline to apply to exhibit in the Kalispell Mini Maker Faire, a free all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. Apply online at kalispellminimakerfaire.com. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Flathead Valley Community College Arts and Technology Building.
  •  Auditions for the Bigfork Cowabunga variety show are from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 16-17 at the Bigfork Center for Performing Arts. Sponsorship packets are also available by emailing bigforkaces@gmail.com.
