LETTER: Let locals solve the problem at CFAC, not EPA

| January 29, 2016 11:00 AM

I’ll make this brief since I hope the EPA is getting what I hope are hundreds of letters on the subject of whether “CFAC could get Superfund designation” (Daily Inter Lake, Jan. 23).

I have lived in the Kalispell-Evergreen area since 1948 when I was 4 years old. My father and I have managed our family honeybee business up to the present time.

Columbia Falls and its many workers at CFAC have probably purchasd literally tons of honey from us over the years. You might then understand why I have a warm spot in my heart for that area of the Flathead.

To see that it might become an EPA Superfund site breaks my heart. Let the local folks deal with it — they and the land’s owner can do it efficiently — and more efficiently than EPA. —Gene Speelman, Kalispell
