LAW ROUNDUP: Mower worries about disturbing the peace
Whitefish Police took a call from Spokane Avenue, where someone had questions about how he or she could go about mowing a lawn without disturbing the peace. The person was advised that it was OK to be noisy from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Six individuals were cited for open containers and told that if they were caught drinking in public again, they would get a trip to the slammer. Someone had called to report that a group of dirty, smelly transients were along East First Street drinking tall cans of beer. Police allegedly had previous contact with some of the group the day before.
A man on State Park Road was given permission to remove a dead deer from a ditch after he flagged down an officer. The man later called and asked for a government worker to remove the deer, which was up against his fence. The man was told that government workers were on holiday and that he should try again Tuesday. The man asked that the deer be picked up immediately. The man was given advice on how to call an animal removal service and about which public landfills would accept the animal if he decided to remove the deer himself.
Officers found that a crowd had dispersed after someone reported that 10 transients had allegedly gotten into a group fight outside of a bar.
Two men were taken to jail after someone reported that they were in a fist fight on the side of U.S. 93.
All involved were alive, but possibly on the fast track for a hangover after someone reported that there was a group of eight people taking photographs of three people lying on Baker Avenue. The reporting party thought the three people on the ground were dead. The investigating officer found that the individuals were living, breathing Canadians who were passed out drunk. Friends surrounding the three were photographing a moment that those on the ground likely wouldn’t remember.
Someone called Kalispell Police from a store next door after he or she witnessed a someone shoplifting and running from a business off U.S. 93. An officer responded, but an employee said company policy prohibited the theft from being reported.
A group of teens spotted throwing fireworks at each other were advised of ordinances pertaining to acceptable fireworks usage.
Two guests were kicked out of a hotel and escorted away from a property after a woman was allegedly rude to a guest and had suspected drug traffic flowing in and out of her room.
Officers were unable to locate a man who was allegedly walking along South Meridian Road, opening and closing a pocket knife as he walked. The person who reported the behavior said the man had not threatened anyone.
A man wanted dispatch to document the fact that he had lost his prescription after he left the emergency room for a set of broken ribs. The man thought he might have lost the medicine at a dining establishment.
A woman on Fifth Avenue West North reported that her wallet had been stolen from her unlocked vehicle.
A woman reported that she and the pastor of a church had items stolen from their vehicles as they attended Sunday services.
A man was counseled after he allegedly got threatening text messages from someone who suggested that he lock his doors.
A man canceled a call for help that he made to Columbia Falls Police after his roommate allegedly locked him out.
