| July 3, 2016 8:33 PM

One person died in a fiery crash off U.S. 93 north of Kalispell on Sunday afternoon, while another person in the vehicle survived.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Josh Nanna, a southbound sport utility vehicle carrying two people rolled off the roadway near the Cowboy Church, north of Kalispell, around 5 p.m.

“They were trapped,” Nanna said.

Good Samaritans helped the driver and a passenger from the vehicle as it caught fire. The individuals were taken to the hospital, where one died. The other did not have severe injuries, Nanna said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

“I don’t believe alcohol was a factor,” Nanna said.

Kalispell Police Department also responded to the call. The identity of the crash victims has not been released, nor whether it was the passenger or driver who died.
