Services for mauling victim set for Thursday
A celebration of life ceremony will be conducted for Brad Treat at 10 a.m. Thursday at Legends Field in Kalispell.
Treat, who was a law enforcement officer for the Flathead National Forest, died Wednesday afternoon when he was mauled by a bear south of West Glacier. According to a report by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Treat and a companion were riding mountain bikes when Treat collided with a bear on the bike path and was fatally attacked by the bear.
Traffic directors will be on hand in the vicinity of Legends Field to assist as parking is extremely limited in the area. The entrance to the field is located at the intersection of 12th Street West and Third Avenue West.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a scholarship fund with Flathead High School Athletic Division in memory of Brad. Memorial donations checks can be made to Kalispell Public Schools, in memory of Brad Treat and mailed to Glacier Bank, 202 Main Street, Kalispell, MT 59901.
