Spring open burning season over

Open burning is prohibited during the months of July, August and September.

Recreational campfires are allowed during prohibited months, unless further fire restrictions are issued by the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation or your local fire district.

An alternative to burning is offered by the Flathead County landfill. Homeowners can bring up to two pickup loads of residential yard waste to the landfill, free of charge.

Composting is suggested as an alternative for items such as grass clippings and leaves.

The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will post further fire restrictions and closures if necessary.
