BASEBALL: Glacier Twins toppled at Sapa-Johnsrud tournament

WHITEFISH — The Butte Miners scored six times in the fourth inning to win 9-1 and spoil the opener for the Glacier Twins A at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial tournament at Memorial Park on Thursday.

Leading 2-1 after one inning Butte erupted in the fourth, sending 10 batters to the plate and breaking the game open. Five of the Miners’ nine hits came in the six-run inning.

James Sampson-Keck doubled and drove in the only Glacier run. The Twins totaled just five hits.

The Twins return to action in the four-day American Legion baseball tournament Friday at 8 p.m. against the Spokane Cannons.

The Twins play twice on Saturday, 12:30 p.m. versus Spokane Expos and 8 p.m. against the Lethbridge Elks.
