Stuart Wellington Duncan, 94

| July 10, 2016 9:40 PM

Stuart Wellington Duncan, “Duncan,” 94, passed away on July 7, 2016, of natural causes at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson.

He was born in Kila on July 23, 1921, to Stuart and Emma (Wittlake) Duncan, a gentle and passionate person. Although a childhood disease at an early age hindered his mental development, it could not rob Duncan of his joyful, compassionate, generous and loving nature. Throughout his life he willingly shared his candy and gifts with those around him.

His engaging personality drew many to know him as he pulled his wagon around Kalispell, played his guitar and sang Christmas Carols at the B & B and had his glasses cleaned by the kind staff of the glasses store in the mall. He loved going to Trinity Lutheran Church and singing hymns. His zest for life carried him from holiday to holiday with intense anticipation of the coming celebration.

Duncan was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rena Mae Eddy. He is survived by his sister, Eunice Mahlum, two nieces and three nephews and their families, many loving, caring friends and his special friend and advocate, Cheryl Ross and family.

The many kindnesses shown Duncan by the community and those who cared for him through the years is greatly appreciated.

A private graveside service will be July 13, 2016, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
