A request to change the zoning on 21 acres of suburban agricultural land on Cemetery Road is the focus of a public hearing on Wednesday before the Flathead County Planning Board.

Michael and Sharon Tikka are asking to change the zoning from suburban agricultural with a 10-acre minimum lot size to a light industrial classification. The property is in the Westside Zoning District and is located about halfway between U.S. 93 and the U.S. 93 bypass south of Kalispell. A portion of the property was formerly part of a gravel pit.

The planning staff report noted that

The Planning Board’s recommendation will be forwarded to the county commissioners for final consideration.

The board also will hold a work session to discuss amendments to the Flathead County floodplain and floodway management regulations. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Earl Bennett Building, 1035 First Ave. W. in Kalispell.
