It took Luke May four years to get the Whitefish football team back in the state championship game, so when they finally got there last November he was going to make it count. The Bulldogs quarterback had a heroic day in Whitefish’s 17-13 win over Dillon in the title game, throwing for 162 yards, rushing for 94, accounting for both Whitefish touchdowns and pulling down a pair of interceptions.

Playing under the watchful eye of his father and offensive coordinator, Eric, May was named the co-Western A Most Valuable Player as a senior and was named all-state as a quarterback.

He also earned all-conference honors on the basketball court and won a state championship in the javelin this spring.

A superstar on the gridiron, May will compete in college not in football but in track and field where he earned a scholarship to throw the javelin at the University of Minnesota. May’s state-winning javelin throw soared for more than 203 feet and gave him his third straight Class A state championship.
