LEGION ROUNDUP: Mission Valley splits; Libby wins at home

POLSON — Jacob Harrod tossed a 3-hitter as the Mission Valley Mariners blanked the Bitterroot Bucs 10-0 on Thursday in the second game of an American Legion A baseball doubleheader.

Bitterroot won the opener 11-1.

Both games ended after five innings on the 10-run rule.

In the Mission Valley win, eight Mariners accounted for the 12 hits. Harrod, Anthony Jones, Karsen Krebs and Kade Schutzmann had two hits each. Jones, Bryant Hales and Warren Wood clubbed doubles.

Two five-run innings — the third and fifth — salted the game away for the Mariners.

In the opener, Bitterroot put the game out of reach with a nine-run fourth inning.

Walter Wood had two, including a double, of the Mariners’ three hits in that one.

LIBBY — Libby used a 5-run second inning and a three-run sixth to defeat Sandpoint, Idaho, in a nonconference contest.

Seth Bateman, Dylon Lane and Brady Bateman had two RBIs each for the winners.

Brady Bateman had two of Libby’s six hits.

Collin Johnson, Tanner Schatz and Tanner Wood scored two runs each.

Libby hosts the Missoula Mavericks for a conference doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 6:05 p.m.
