Summer Vacation

By Lynsey Jackola

You toss the ball

You throw the stick

You gripe and you moan, you’re ever sick

Of playing with the dog

Who hogs the log.

He takes a growl as a good job

And a smile as a “you’re dumb bob.”

I scowl and throw the stick

And he takes off really quick

He jumps into the water

Just like it got hotter,

Receives his stick

Then gives it to me with a lick.

“Hey you old dog, you might not be bad,

maybe you could just be my lad!”

And so off we went

Into our cozy nice tent.

Summer

By Trent Massie

Summer, summer

To it’s funner

Than being at school

And doing nothing cool

Like fishing

And riding bikes

And not being bored

Unless I have the school teacher

Mrs. Ward

School’s Out!

By Lynsey Jackola

Nothing beats the dismissal bell

“Out of school!” kids start to yell

NO MORE PENCILS, NO MORE BOOKS!

NO MORE TEACHERS, SCARY LOOKS!

Here come students, filing out

Pushing, shoving, ow! They shout!

Children race home to put on their shorts,

Obviously doing some kind of sport.

Kids throw the ball and they jump the rope,

Some go to the horses, wanting to lope.

Others go to play video games

Which is actually pretty lame.

I think however you spend your summer,

Use it wisely, because soon, school! Bummer.

An Outdoor Summer

By Alexa Hammack

I love outdoors with the trees and the grass

Going out fishing and catching big bass

Seeing the deer run and bounce

Seeing the nature is all that counts

Hiking, fishing, hunting, and more

Hunting for deer, rabbits and boars

Hearing the birds sing and fly

Everything’s beautiful to my eyes

The blue sky and white clouds what a pretty sight

Staying up playing about all night

Now you know that summer is cool

If you don’t like it you’re a huge fool.

When is Summer?!

By Veronica Barton

Only a few days

Before school is done

Then there’s summer vacation

Which is super fun!

But these days drag along

Making me tired

I wish that school was like a job

And that the teacher got me fired

School, school, it’s such a bore

I like my teacher and all

But if I spent another month

On schoolwork, I’d surely bawl!

Summer Waiting

By Veronica Barton

Waiting, waiting,

For school to end

Days, days,

Why do they take so long

School, school,

I like my teacher, but

Summer, summer,

Vacation’s so fun!

During the Summer

By Geneva Simonson

During the summer

The sun shines bright

The sky is clear in the darkness of night

You can see the moon and the stars

The lighting bugs glow in the jars

Kids laugh and play all during the day

They throw fits when it’s time to “hit the hay”

You wake up in the morning

To have lots of fun

And you will go back to sleep

When the day is done

I Hate Chores in the Summer

By Alexa Hammack

When school’s over there’s

Popsicles and heat

Baking good meals and a lot of yummy sweets

Staying up late at night having some fun

Thinking a whole bunch about how summer’s begun

Running through the sprinkler on a hot day

Sitting on the ground and thinking about what to play

This day has been long and fun, but it’s time to go to sleep

Dang, I forgot I have to do chores, like fold, wash and sweep

I’m Ready for Summer

By Geneva Simonson

School was fun

But I’m ready for some summer fun

I’m ready to swim, camp and hike

I’m ready to ride my new bike

I’m ready to sleep in late

Summer is fun, and I can’t wait!
